SWAT units respond to 'active threat' at office complex near Tampa, Florida; suspect dead: sheriff

Law enforcement in Florida responded to a reported active shooter situation Wednesday at a business park in Tampa, with authorities later confirming the suspect is dead.

The shooter was reported in the Sabal Park business area at the Citi Bank Center in Brandon.

"If you are in or near the area, SHELTER IN PLACE immediately. Stay indoors, lock doors, and stay away from windows," an emergency alert stated.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said one person was taken into law enforcement custody, before saying the person was dead.

"UPDATE: Citibank Center Scene… The suspect involved is deceased," he wrote on X

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were clearing a building in the area. No injuries or fatalities have been reported.
