Before this morning, I'd never heard the name Kylie Cantrall. No clue who she is. Now? We're talking about a potential breakout star after Saturday night's national anthem performance before Game 2 of the World Series in Milwaukee where she belted out a rendition that's being called the best "since Whitney."
We're talking the best performance of the "Star Spangled Banner" since Super Bowl XXV on January 27, 1991. I'm not saying it, but others are. Let's go to the comments where this praise is being heaped on Cantrall.

As I'd written going into the state race, the goal for Jr. was 11:teens on a course that's notoriously fast in a race filled with some serious competition. His official time was 11:10:00 (2 miles), good for 22nd place (377 runners) and just one-tenth of a second behind his teammate who finished 21st.
Jr.'s time is now the 9th fastest time in the history of the junior high program, which is unfathomable considering where he was just a year ago when his PR was 12:14.
As for the team, the boys won a state title for the school with 1st, 21st, 22nd, 78th and 85th place finishes. The final total was 156 points for Perrysburg to 178 points for Kings Junior High out of Cincinnati.
If we go back 14-15 months ago, you guys were teaching me everything about cross country and explaining that it's more than just running. There's actual strategy. Now I study split times and point systems. I watched as Jr. was 64th at the quarter-mile mark, to 40th at the mile, to 29th at the 1 3/4 mile post and then he picked off seven more spots in a helluva kick to the finish line.
Last night, at dinner, I reiterated to Mrs. Screencaps that I never thought in my wildest dreams I would enjoy spending a Sunday watching kids run these races. I think it's the festival atmosphere that's so relaxing. People eating quesadillas at picnic tables. Some people bringing in their dogs. Sun shining.
What a life pivot this has all been.
• Michael P. in Allons, TN says: Out on McAfee but in his defense that goes for all pregame shows. CFB NFL MLB (don't watch the NBA). The only one I might watch is NHL on TNT.
ALL NFL pregame shows are useless drivel and College Game Day is so scripted they might as well read off a tele-prompter. If anything watchable happens there’ll be a 30 second clip on X.
• Travel Ball Hardo Chris B. in Houston says give him more McAfee and more of Herbstreit's dog: There is indeed alot of McAfee on ESPN and I am good with it. He is generally very positive and celebratory of whatever sport he is covering, and I like his energy. He has a fun different way about him than the typical talking heads. I also like that he doesn't have much of a filter, calls it bluntly like he sees it.

I understand that his schtick is not for everyone and that's fine too. Those people have the power of their remote control to watch Big Noon Kickoff instead. I am also good with Herbstreit, his dogs, and the Mannings too.
I'd stay in my seat and watch.

• David W. says: If a person wished to check scores or minor information on the NFL Web Site, it goes to a subscription page, I have a problem with that for public information. Why don't they say unless you give us money then we don't want you. It just gets better and better every year, not.
Multiple streaming, international games, subscriptions only viewership, not to mention the lecturing of social issues on and off the field. That is the short rant for now, just another nameless no account who can find other things to do anyway. Oh wait, maybe I am wrong, game scores or information is a secret, and they want to be like the government and soak a person for every penny.Â
Ric's definitely feeling better after that fall on Friday.
