The Colorado Buffaloes have suffered three straight losses after beginning the year 2-0, and speculation has come up again regarding Deion Sanders’ job security as the team’s head coach.

If you ask Dan Dakich, the "Deion experiment" has failed in Boulder.

"The truth of the matter is this is a s--t show," he said on the latest episode of OutKick’s "Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich."

"It’s unfortunate because I said this earlier: I liked when Sanders’ team was good. But as more you watched it, the more you knew this was a Trojan horse, a house of cards, whatever you want to do."

The reason for Dakich’s opinion about Sanders’ program being a bust doesn’t just revolve around the team’s record, though the last three games have not been pretty.

It revolves around the respect players have for Sanders and the rest of the coaches.

After the 41-7 blowout loss to Northwestern, Sanders revealed that multiple players were dismissed from the team because they were caught laughing in the locker room despite the poor result on the field. Players were also captured on video talking trash about the size of Northwestern’s crowd before the game.\

Dakich said those actions would never fly within a program where players have respect for the coaching staff and the team itself.

"Last week, Sanders made the decision to dismiss three players from the program after a number of incidents. Some players laughing in the Northwestern locker room after they got their a– beat. Well, see, it’s not that the fact he dismissed them. It’s the fact people felt comfortable enough to laugh in the locker room," Dakich explained.

"That’s the coaches’ fault, including Sanders. That’s not the players’ fault. No, no, no. We know, we know, we know. I know as a player, I know as a coach, I know as a broadcaster being around: players will act a certain way depending on the environment of the program. At Indiana University and Bowling Green State University, if you even thought about laughing in the locker room after a loss, the whole team would shut you down because, quite frankly, the whole team didn’t want to get up at 2 a.m. and start running.

"You never even thought about doing that. Even if you’d play well and the team played bad, and you ain’t all that upset like I did against Kentucky my freshman year. I knew there ain’t gonna be no happiness. But that’s the organization Sanders has put in there."

It seemed Sanders had the program on the ups after going 9-4 in 2024 and earning a bowl game, though they lost to BYU, 36-14, in that contest. But as his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, cornerback Travis Hunter and more from that Buffaloes squad entered the NFL, the program hasn’t been able to sustain its winning ways.

Last season, the Buffaloes went 3-9, and though they are 2-3 now, the vibes in Boulder are not high considering more ranked opponents are still on the schedule.
